FAQ

What organizations have you helped?

We have relationships with over 50 organization in the Athens area. For example, we've provided recycled and refurbished computers to the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, ATHICA, Bike Athens, Economic Justice Coalition, Common Ground Athens,  Casa De Amistad, Boys and Girls Club of Athens, Oconee River Trust, Child Care Resource and Referral of Northeast Georgia at Athens, Athens Oconee Court Appointed Special Advocates, and Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter, and more!

What kinds of computers do you give away?

The computers that we give away are usually older machines that are still usable. They won't run the latest video games, but they are more than sufficient for common office tasks and Internet use. The minimum specifications on a machine that we give away includes a 450 MHz processor, 384 MB memory and a 10 GB hard-drive. They include the Ubuntu operating system and open-source software such as OpenOffice.

What is Ubuntu?

Ubuntu is an operating system developed and maintained by people all over the world. It is a free (as in 'freedom') alternative to commercial operating systems like Microsoft's Windows or Apple's OS X.

I don't live in Athens.  May I purchase a computer from you anyway?
