Volunteer

If you would like to help out with Free IT Athens, please fill out the new volunteer form by clicking here !

Here are some of the ways you could volunteer:
  • Helping people with their computer problems
  • Refurbishing donated computers
  • Developing and teaching training classes
  • Supporting community organizations
  • Recruiting and managing volunteers
  • Promoting Free IT Athens to past and potential donors
  • Maintaining and improving Free IT Athens technical infrastructure
Don't know what to do? All new Free IT Athens volunteers are required to sign up for our Volunteer Boot Camp orientation session.  The session is around half an hour in length, conducted at our 594 Oconee Street offices.

Also, please join our volunteer google group. The google group is a low traffic e-mail list that will keep you notified of our activities and events. Volunteers who would like to help with trainings should join our trainers google group. This is a moderate-traffic email list for discussing developing and teaching trainings classes.

Volunteers can receive a free desktop after 12 hours of service or a free laptop after 20 hours of service.

After 20 hours of volunteer work you earn the option of being officially recognized as a member of the Free IT Athens staff. Staff are volunteers who regularly visit open hours, can work independently, and can lead others in at least one area we work in (e.g. refurbishing, support, training). Each staff member also takes on a share of the projects and administrative work that occurs outside of open hours.
